Wonders of Creation: A Day at the Akron Zoo

Wonders of Creation: A Day at the Akron Zoo

“All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.”
-Cecil Frances Alexander

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to spend a few quiet hours at the Akron Zoo with nothing but my camera, some coffee, and the anticipation of capturing life in its raw, beautiful form.

What I found was more than just animals behind glass or fences. I saw God’s creativity on full display each feather, fur pattern, or primal gaze a brushstroke from the Master Artist. In the quiet hum of wings or the sleepy blink of a snow leopard, I was reminded that nature doesn't shout it speaks in soft wonder, if we’re willing to listen.

A Glimpse Through the Lens

Penguins gathering in unison community and joy in motion.

In the strength and stillness of the Komodo dragon, we glimpse the wild artistry of a Creator who makes even the fierce, majestic.

With every silent glide and gleam of scale, the snake moves like a whisper of creation, elegant, ancient, and fearfully wondrous.

These moments remind me that creation isn’t just beautiful, it’s relational. Every creature, every person, is part of a greater whole.

Living in Love and Unity

As I walked through the zoo, watching people of every background families, couples, kids, elders marvel together, laugh together, I thought: This is how it’s supposed to be.

We were created not to live divided by walls, fear, or difference, but to coexist in love, honor, and appreciation. Just as the ecosystem of a forest depends on harmony among countless species, our human lives flourish when we choose unity over division, kindness over conflict.

Nature doesn’t compete for identity. The tiger doesn’t envy the bird. The trees don’t resent the flowers. Each plays its part beautiful, necessary, whole. How much more powerful would our world be if we did the same?

A Call to See Differently

Photography is more than capturing what is it’s about inviting people to see again. My hope is that through these images, you’re reminded of:

  • The wonder in your everyday surroundings

  • The purpose in your own design

  • And the call we all share: to live in love, unity, and reverence for the world and each other

Let’s Walk Together

Next time you're out in nature or even just walking through your neighborhood takes a moment. Breathe deep. Look closely. Let the wonder of creation soften your heart and expand your perspective.

Let’s live in a way that reflects the beauty we see. Let’s choose love. Choose unity. Choose awe.

And if you're ever in Akron, stop by the zoo it’s a living gallery of God's imagination.
